This pieces always brings great memories as its was my grade 3 ABRSM exam pieces when i was a beginner. For the advance its features a gospel cadence: IV iii ii I used in the renaissance period. For the beginners its when u learn different ways to contruct a D chord. nevertheless, the catchy majestic tune always captivates me. Below are my tips and video hope you enjoy playing as much as i do!
Bar 1 -2 : Chordal form to practice chord balancing. A great opening with chord playing.

Bar 3 -4 : the interstoing cadence at the end suggest a gospel used back oin the renaissence period ... usually such chord ii to I is viod as it will create consecutives... in this case a leading is added in to strengthen the cadence and it worked beautifully. This motif is used through the piece.

Bar 9 - 10: Mordent (hammer and pulls) tones and colors .. one can practice playing closer to the bridge for a ponticello effect followed by a natural position at bar 11 onwards ....

Bar 13 - 14: playing a D chord using 3 and 4 fonger on the 4th, 5th string can be challenging but rewarding in the long run... the tone is rich is rich in this position and can be used for many other arrangements involving the same chord.
